The trip to the Abbey

I discovered Titchfield Abbey at the weekend. It is only 15 mins from where i live and i didn't realise that such a lovely shell of an Abbey is just few minutes away. It was M's idea to go; so i typed it into the ol' Sat Nav and off we went.

A chilly, overcast Spring day just lends to the atmosphere of my photos...

It was first built by monks and after Hernry V111 came to the throne, it was passed to the Earl of Southampton who 'modernised' it. He was a patron of Shakespeare and some of Shakespeare's plays where first performed at the Abbey! Amazing, i thought...

Hey all, Little Red has now just started selling on Coriandr. Find the Little Red shop here! It is the British version of Esty, but it is still in its infancy but i wanted to support this very good gateway to all things crafty. All items i sell on there will be exclusive to coriandr, so please check it out... Ciao for now, as I'm off to make some veggie Chilli. YumYum!

Leather sourcing

Just received some yummy samples of leather in the post today. I showed them to some friends and we all agreed that i have to buy the lot! Hah hah !! There goes my buget for the month but hopefully some lovely Little Red goodies will come of it.

Aside from the leather, i had my very first car wash expereince today. Can you believe that i have never taken my car to a whirly-drive-thru-carwash? I always wash it by hand as i was scared of taking it through those big machines... Anyway, it was fine. A little daunting but i think i will be able to do it again. :-) I'm looking forward to having a sparkly car from now on.

The Morning After the Opening Night Before

Well, what a night last night! It was the fund raising evening for the Bargate Monument Gallery and the opening of part 2 of the Catalyst show, featuring the local creative talent including the new leather handbag collection from Little Red.

The night was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Cake Stall, "Pin the 'tach On Sgt Bargate", the Unlucky dip, the music and the bar... It was fantastic. The highlight of the evening was the Art Auction where a lot of money was raised both for the Arches and the Gallery, but also for comic relief. The most impressive event of the evening was Stu Rhodda sitting in a bath of cold Bakes Beans and raising £300 in the process! ... I hope to get photos soon of all of this.

It was a great evening... I slight hangover has kicked in and the thought of cakes and cocktails now is not good, but this is all par for the course.

Install Complete

I finally completed the installation of my work for the Catalyst show in the Bargate Gallery. It opens with a fund raising evening on Friday Night (13 March) and i am really excited. I am making cakes for the cake stall and i hoping to go and buy the ingredients for 'Fifteens' this evening. My new leather collection of bags look really good in the gallery and i hope that they make an impact. There are some amazing pieces on show as part of the exhibition and if you would like to see it, it is on for 5 weeks at the Bargate Monument Gallery in Southampton, Hampshire, England. There are paintings, drawings, and scultpure... So don't miss it. We were all saying that the work all really complements each other and i hope that visitors to the gallery will agree. Admission is free. More about the gallery and show can be found here.

I will keep you updated on the making of the fifteens! They are a very simple Northern Irish 'wee buns' and there is no cooking involved (my kind of cake). It is just fifteen of each of the ingredients, hence the name, all mixed together with condensed milk... Yummy.
